PART TIME HEROES, HIDEOUT SESSIONS-48 (XMAS SPECIAL!!) by Ross PTH
Happy November one and all!
Welcome to the penultimate episode of the decade. Me on my own this month for a distinctly disco flavoured first hour, followed by an hour of all sorts of superb new music including Vlooper, John Daly, Subtrkt & Jessie Ware, Babe Terror, Sigur Ros and DELS to name a handful.
As always monstrous amounts of thanks for listening and please do get in touch with your requests and such like for next month’s Christmas special on hideoutsessions@mac.com.
Have an amazing month and we look forward to bringing you more of the same in December!
Much love…Ross x

The Nextmen need no introduction these days. Mixtape legends, badboy producers, guaranteed party rockers and maybe some (after a boozy few and a party with these two) would say a national institution: there is not a dancefloor that these boys have not smashed in their time. Even your grandma loves them, probably. From hip hop, dancehall, dustup, drum’n'bass to house, poprock, soulful low-end boomp and disco, there’s not a genre the guys won’t dabble in, so it’s great to see them delve into their reggae influences for this debut release on NICE UP! Come follow me.
Consisting of Dom Search (aka Dominic Betmead) and Brad Baloo (aka Brad Ellis), the two are world renowned performers, with an impressive collection of albums, collaborations and tours under their belts – as they say they’ve “been in the game a long time baby!”. From the boom bap hip hop vibes of their critically acclaimed first album “Amongst The Madness” to the eclectic sounds of last year’s beloved “Join The Dots”, the duo have always brought a quality to the table that is rare in a lot of today’s disposable soundtracks. They’ve also been behind the boards for artists such as Plan B, Corinne Bailey Rae, Fat Freddy’s Drop and dancehall legend Cutty Ranks – standing them head and shoulders above most UK producers.
On “Sofa” we find them digging deep into their reggae influences, reminiscent of their “Blunted In The Backroom” mix for Trojan Records. Featuring French vocalist Pupajim (probably best known for “I Am A Robot” and “International Farmer”), the boys loop up a bumpin reggae beat with more than enough bounce to get the laziest of arses off their couch and onto the dancefloor for a skank. With a version on the flip for the selectors out there and remixes coming from Wrongtom (currently enjoying some fame for his “Duppy Conqueror” album with Roots Manuva) and The Milk (hotly and rightfully tipped as the next big thing!) amongst others, this should be booming out of a speaker near you soon!!

Nice little video put together by Martyn Thomas, he’s skating an Addict Clown Girl Deck and wears Addict Union Jeans…
Recently Kmag held a remix competition to remix an exclusive Sabre track, One Hundred Teeth. They got a great response with the track itself downloaded 2869 times, some of the parts receiving over 1500 downloads and 197 producers submitting their remixes.
These were judged by Sabre, Kasra @ Critical, Adam @ Backdrop PR and Colin Steven, the editor of Kmag. Again the amount of quality entries made it difficult to choose a winner but in the end they went with Dominic Ridgway’s effort. Dominic will very soon be getting £1000 worth of Addict apparel of his choice!
